Performs a variety of basic nursing procedures under the direction of a registered nurse which may include, but are not limited to, wound care, wound irrigations, medication administration, catheterization, range of motion exercises and glucose monitoring. If the LPN is appropriately qualified, prepares and administers oral, rectal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intradermal and topical medications to patients per policy and procedure. Observes patient response to medication, records unexpected reactions and reports them to the registered nurse. Identifies common patient problems, symptoms and reactions through monitoring Participates in the development, review and evaluation of the plan of care appropriate to the age of the patient in conjunction with the registered nurse. Demonstrates sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy and expresses interest in the patient progress. Provides for the physical and emotional comfort of the patient as well as a safe home environment.
Required:
Current licensure with the Michigan State Board of Nursing. Two years current nursing experience. Current CPR certification. Valid driver's license, proof of valid auto insurance, and maintain a driving record in accordance with McLaren's corporate driving policy and eligibility guidelines.
