Operates cord switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and interoffice calls by performing the following duties.
Essential Functions and Duties:
Receives, screens and relays incoming and outgoing calls to proper individuals, department or hospital services.Places long distance, collect, and TTY phone callsOperates paging system, making all necessary announcementsRecord of doctors on vacation and their weekend on call schedules and the faxing of such information to the nursing floors.Record all wall alarms that go off.Record of all CodesRecord of all Dr. Reds (FIRE) and Disaster DrillsDo numeric paging and Alpha text message pagingUnpacking, labeling and dispensing of patient's room telephonesUpdating information of all pertinent doctor's changes, eg. Office number, cell number or home numberOn Call availability, evening and weekends, will be scheduled 16 hrs per week.
Minimum Education:
High school grad or GED
Minimum Experience:
Previous experience as telephone operator desirable. Two weeks (three, if needed) on the job training.
