Develop and deliver comprehensive CNA curriculum in accordance with state guidelines and facility standards. Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and hands-on training activities. Instruct students in classroom and clinical settings, demonstrating proper nursing assistant techniques and procedures. Evaluate student progress through tests, practical exams, and performance assessments. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and certifications. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to students throughout the program. Collaborate with facility staff to coordinate clinical training opportunities. Stay current with best practices and developments in nursing assistant education and healthcare.
Qualifications
Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, with current, active Utah license to practice; who is in good standing with the Utah Division of Occupational and professional Licensing. Previous experience as a CNA, preferably in a long-term care or veterans' healthcare setting. Must complete a UNAR approved 'Train the Trainer' type program or demonstrate competence to teach students as defined by the UNAR. Experience in teaching or training adult learners, preferably in a healthcare education environment. Strong knowledge of nursing assistant duties, patient care standards, and safety protocols. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and engage students from diverse backgrounds. CPR and First Aid certification preferred
This position is based at the Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins, St. George, UT. The instructor will work in both classroom and clinical settings, interacting closely with students, healthcare staff, and veterans. The role requires standing for extended periods and occasional lifting or assisting with patient care demonstrations.
