Provide a full range of Physician Assistant services in specialty medical care within the limits of training, licensure, certification, and clinical privileges granted by the Military Treatment Facility. Provide general screening, medical care, and examinations of patients for routine, acute, and chronic conditions. Technically direct and provide care for a variety of diseases and injuries, including acute, chronic, and minor trauma cases. Recognize emergency conditions and take appropriate action to diagnose, prescribe for, treat, stabilize, refer, or transfer patients as clinically appropriate. Examine patients, formulate differential diagnostic plans, and define and order required diagnostic testing. Interpret examination findings and test results and implement appropriate treatment plans. Identify medical problems and determine appropriate actions to address the problem, including referral to a physician or other qualified medical personnel when required. Perform specific diagnostic and therapeutic practices and procedures in accordance with the approved scope of practice, privileges, and facility requirements. Prescribe medications and immunizations in accordance with approved treatment protocols and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee-approved medications. Answer patient telephone consults with the assistance of clinic staff. Promote preventive care and health maintenance, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care through formal and individual education and counseling. Teach patients and family members healthy regimens and personal responsibility for achieving wellness. Establish collaborative rapport with physicians, nursing staff, clinic staff, and other healthcare personnel to promote and facilitate patient care services. Attend staff meetings and participate in case discussions, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement activities. Maintain inpatient and outpatient medical records in accordance with Military Treatment Facility procedures and applicable documentation requirements. Clearly communicate findings, diagnoses, treatment plans, and patient care information orally and in writing to appropriate healthcare personnel. Identify and report situations and individual cases that may have public health significance and carry out effective control measures as appropriate. Abide by medical staff bylaws upon acceptance of privileges. Maintain professional communication with patients, families, Government personnel, clinical staff, and company representatives. Maintain all required licensure, certification, DEA registration, credentialing, privileging, clinical competency documentation, training, and facility access requirements throughout employment. Comply with applicable Military Treatment Facility policies, DHA requirements, HIPAA requirements, local procedures, safety requirements, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Notify the appropriate Government supervisor and company leadership of any inability to perform scheduled duties as required. Work Schedule: The PA shall perform services Monday through Friday from 0730 to 1630. The position will normally be scheduled for a 9-hour period, including an uncompensated 60-minute lunch break, for a period of 40 scheduled hours per week. Federal holidays are not required workdays for this labor category unless otherwise directed and authorized in accordance with contract requirements.

Graduate of a Physician Assistant Training Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, or its predecessors, and acceptable to the Surgeon General, USAF. Minimum of 24 months of experience as a Physician Assistant within the last 36 months. Basic Life Support certification is required. Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is required. Current DEA registration is required. No equivalency determination may be requested as a substitute for the education requirements for this labor category. Must possess and maintain a permanent, full, active, and unrestricted Physician Assistant license to practice in any one of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Must maintain all required clinical privileges, credentials, competency documentation, DEA registration, license, certification, and facility access requirements throughout employment. Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
