Azure Data Engineer Full-Time | Hybrid / Houston, TX About the Role We're looking for a skilled Azure Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data solutions for enterprise clients. You'll be a hands-on technical contributor — translating complex data requirements into reliable, performant architectures on the Microsoft Azure platform while partnering closely with analytics, application, and business teams to deliver data that's trusted, timely, and actionable. What You'll Do
Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Synapse Analytics Build and optimize data models across bronze/silver/gold lakehouse layers or traditional warehouse patterns Ingest, transform, and deliver structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data from diverse source systems Develop and maintain ETL/ELT frameworks with a focus on reliability, scalability, and observability Implement data quality checks, lineage tracking, and monitoring across pipeline workflows Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and application teams to understand and fulfill data requirements Support and optimize Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and Synapse dedicated/serverless pools Manage infrastructure-as-code deployments using ARM templates, Bicep, or Terraform Participate in data governance initiatives including cataloging, classification, and access control via Microsoft Purview
What You Bring
3+ years of hands-on experience building data pipelines and solutions on Microsoft Azure Proficiency in Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks (PySpark), and Azure Synapse Analytics Strong SQL skills — complex transformations, query tuning, and schema design Experience with Python or Scala for data engineering workloads Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and lakehouse architecture Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Git-based workflows, and CI/CD for data pipelines Experience with Azure Storage (ADLS Gen2, Blob) and data serialization formats (Parquet, Delta, JSON, Avro) DP-203 (Azure Data Engineer Associate) certification preferred
Nice to Have
Experience with Microsoft Fabric and OneLake Familiarity with real-time streaming using Azure Event Hubs or Azure Stream Analytics Exposure to Power BI dataflows, semantic models, or DirectLake connections Experience supporting data platforms in regulated industries (energy, finance, healthcare, or defense) Prior MSP, consulting, or multi-client environment background
Why This Role You'll work across a diverse portfolio of enterprise clients — no two problems are the same. You'll have real ownership of the data platforms you build, and the opportunity to introduce modern patterns (Fabric, lakehouse, streaming) where they genuinely move the needle for clients.
