Reports To: Campus Principal
Position Summary
UME Preparatory Academy is seeking certified middle school teachers (Grades 7 8) to join our candidate pool for current and future openings. Selected candidates will deliver high-quality instruction aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), supporting students in developing critical thinking, content mastery, and college and career readiness skills across core subject areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver daily instruction aligned to TEKS for Grades 7 8 within assigned content area(s)Develop and implement engaging, standards-based lesson plansPromote critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skillsPrepare students for success on state assessments and high school readinessUtilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needsAssess student progress regularly and adjust instruction based on dataMaintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance in SkywardEstablish and maintain a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environmentCommunicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and staffCollaborate with colleagues, instructional staff, and campus leadershipParticipate in professional development, PLCs, and school-wide initiativesSupport the mission, vision, and values of UME Preparatory Academy
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or universityValid Texas Teaching Certification in the appropriate content area (Grades 7 12 or 4 8, depending on assignment) in compliance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirementsDemonstrated knowledge of TEKS for middle school instruction (Grades 7 8)Strong classroom management and organizational skills
Preferred
Experience teaching middle school (Grades 7 8)Experience with STAAR preparation strategiesFamiliarity with data-driven instruction and differentiated learningExperience integrating technology into instruction
Skills and Competencies
Strong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to build relationships with students and staffEffective classroom management and instructional planningAbility to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordinglyProficiency in instructional technology and student information systems
Working Conditions
Classroom environment with extended periods of standing, walking, and active instructionAbility to manage diverse student needs and behaviorsOccasional after-school duties, meetings, and events
Compensation
Salary is based on experience and aligned with the UME Preparatory Academy pay scale.
