Performs responsible semiskilled work in the operations and maintenance of a recreational facility; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. Essential Functions ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs facility and grounds inspections; completes the daily maintenance checklist
Opens and closes the facility; ensures building cleanliness
Answers telephone inquiries about routine programs, procedures, and policies; relays and dispatches messages as required
Maintains court and skating areas
Sells passes, collects fees, and registrations
Operates the cash register; handles money and makes change accurately
Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly cash sheets and reports; prepares daily deposits
RELATED TASKS:
Performs routine custodial care of the facility, including sweeping and mopping
Gathers and disposes of trash and debris; cleans restrooms daily
Ensures the cleanliness of the grounds adjacent to the building and the court areas
Assists with court, bench, and cue repairs or replacements
Performs related tasks as required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Some knowledge of recreational facility operations and general office techniques. Ability to operate a cash register and perform basic arithmetic calculations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public, and to follow oral and written instructions. Knowledge of sports and the ability to work with all age groups, organizing, supervising, and teaching athletic skills. Knowledge of cleaning methods. Minimum and Preferred Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and six (6) months of experience in general office procedures. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. and push items up to 165 lbs. Must be able to wear a helmet, safety glasses, a safety harness, safety shoes/boots, and gloves. Exposure to temperature extremes, noise, electricity, heights up to 12 ft., dust, animals/insects, and bloodborne pathogens. CITY OF BOCA RATON - BENEFITS SUMMARY Part-Time Employees ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: To be eligible to receive Paid Leave and to contribute to the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, a part-time employee must have worked at least 1,040 hours in the prior fiscal year PAID LEAVE: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will receive twelve (12) hours of Paid Leave on October 1st. This Paid Leave shall be used no later than September 30th of that fiscal year or it will be forfeited. These hours may not accumulate and may only be granted with the approval of the employee's supervisor. This paid leave has no cash value at separation of employment. MISSION SQUARE 457 DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will be allowed to participate in the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. The City will not provide any matching funds.
