Nursing Professional Development Practitioner The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner at IU North Hospital is a full-time role dedicated to supporting the education and professional development of nursing staff across various units within the hospital. This position utilizes expert practice judgment to enhance the competence and growth of nurses working in high-acuity environments such as ICU, ED, or other specialized units. The practitioner partners closely with unit leadership to deliver onboarding, competency management, education, and role development initiatives that promote clinical excellence, safety, and adherence to evidence-based practices. The specific unit assignment will be determined upon hire based on organizational needs and candidate experience. This role is based at IU North in Carmel, IN, and plays a vital role in fostering a culture of continuous learning aligned with the IU Health Way and organizational goals. Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate onboarding and orientation for new nursing staff, ensuring a smooth transition into their respective units. Manage competency assessments and ongoing professional development for nurses across assigned units. Develop, coordinate, and deliver targeted educational programs specific to high-acuity care, including ICU, ED, or other specialty areas. Support role development initiatives through education and training activities. Collaborate with unit leadership and other stakeholders to meet departmental and system-wide educational objectives. Promote a culture of inquiry and evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes in high-acuity settings.

Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree of Nursing (BSN) required. Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license. Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department/specialty according to patient care policies. Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Two years experience preferred. Experience in high-acuity, critical care, or emergency environments strongly preferred. Must have the ability and willingness to travel as needed to meet the system educational needs. Must have the ability to display knowledge and utilization of principles of adult learning.
