This newly createdrole reportts to a Group FC in a highly successful manufacturing company in county Galway. Our client is seeking an experienced and hands-on Financial Controller to lead the day-to-day financial operations of the business. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring the timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes, and overseeing all core accounting functions, including Financial Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Treasury. The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately 15 finance professionals ( including Team leads) and play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, ensuring statutory compliance, and supporting the organisation's financial objectives. Key Responsibilities Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely financial reporting. Manage, mentor, and develop a finance team of approximately 15 employees across Financial Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Treasury functions. Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, and fixed asset accounting processes. Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including payment processing, credit control, and working capital management. Support cash flow forecasting and treasury operations to ensure effective liquidity management. Prepare statutory financial statements and serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors. Ensure compliance with VAT, taxation requirements, statutory reporting obligations, and internal control policies. Partner with the Group Financial Controller and CFO to deliver management reporting, financial analysis, and strategic finance projects. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes, systems, controls, and reporting capabilities. Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence within the finance function. Qualifications and Experience Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent). Minimum of seven years' post-qualification experience, including at least two to three years in a Financial Controller or senior finance leadership role. Previous experience within a manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or similarly regulated environment is highly desirable. Demonstrated success in leading and developing large or multifunctional finance teams. Strong experience in financial reporting, statutory accounts preparation, month-end close, and audit management. Experience working with SAP or a comparable ERP system is preferred. Skills and Competencies Strong technical accounting expertise and knowledge of Irish statutory and regulatory requirements. Strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate financial information into meaningful business insights. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in financial reporting. Effective communicator with the confidence to engage and influence senior stakeholders. Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
