DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and execute the company-wide maintenance of project costing along with the fixed asset and financial reporting cycles, while ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of related reports, financial statements and workpaper support for various stakeholdersAct as the team lead and support resource for the accounting team for troubleshooting, problem solving, research or other departmental needsPerform duties as needed and identified for the Senior Accounting Manager in various situations and as a backup resourceWork to ensure proper maintenance of required project and asset data including fixed asset additions, retirements, depreciation, project costing detail, and construction/retirement work in process (CWIP/RWIP)Provide analysis and review of related invoice coding, backup documentation, identifying discrepancies and independently working to resolve and correct issues as it relates to project accounting; determine and recommend the appropriate course of action needed to ensure accuracy and timely completion of related tasksEnsure accurate and timely reporting requirements and requests are completed on a routine and ad-hoc basis to establish accurate financial data critical to financial, capital, regulatory or other stakeholder's needsPrepare monthly reconciliations of CWIP, Pplant accounts, accumulated depreciation and regulatory asset & liabilities to the general ledger; identify and correct discrepancies in a timely manner during the financial reporting periodPrepare and support annual regulatory filing reports and associated workpapers for FERC Form 1, the annual Earnings Monitoring Report, and other reporting requirements as necessaryMaintain and support all system updates for fixed assets, depreciation, burden, project categories and hourly and indirect overhead rates in Oracle FusionCoordinate and compile cash flow report and related financials with a high level of accuracy and detail while working with other functional areas to utilize various inputs required for use in monthly reporting and forecasting activitiesCompile and prepare necessary federal and property tax workpapers and support for fixed assets, CWIP, meals, and other tax related itemsAssist in providing customer service and training support to incoming and legacy employees specific to accounting operations, capital projects, and fixed assetsParticipate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure proper execution of capital project, fixed asset, and financial reporting processesMaintain active process improvement initiatives and recommendations while maintaining an accurate, functional procedure and policy documentation library for the positionPrepare recurring monthly and miscellaneous journal entries and related support schedulesReview workpapers, journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, or other ad-hoc support for staffManage and prepare monthly financial reporting narrative for required accounting deliverablesActively participate in cross-functional team projects and initiatives as it relates to the capital project, fixed asset and financial reporting aspect and other needs of the utilityAnalyze information and develop efficiencies around use and access to data and its visualization for reporting and other required metricsAssist directly in annual financial audits, budget process, and regulatory reporting activities and initiativesPerform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
At least 3 to 5 years of experience in financial accounting, with an emphasis in project accounting, fixed assets and financial reporting or equivalent requisite areasBachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting or equivalent degree requiredCPA or actively pursuing CPA certification preferredPrevious senior level general ledger, financial reporting, and fixed asset accounting experience preferredComprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting practices, with utility experience within FERC preferredProficient in Microsoft Excel and related MS Office products, dynamic ERP systems such as Oracle Fusion, PeopleSoft FCM, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, or other large scale multi-module accounting systemsExperience working in a fast-pace dynamic and growth mindset environmentAbility to stay organized, work independently, and prioritize order over all inputs and outputs of position and daily needs, as directedSelf-starter who can problem solve, utilize, and exhaust available tools and resources, and take initiative independently or as part of a teamHigh functioning level of attention to detail and accuracyStrong professional, written, and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated ability to utilize critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills daily
