Job Description
Working at Escuela de Guadalupe includes many different responsibilities to make a small, financially accessible school run effectively. As a close-knit community, we all pitch in to make this a great place to work and learn. Therefore, this description is not intended to be all- inclusive. Specific areas of responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Responsibilities
Building and Grounds Maintenance
Ensuring facilities are tidy and functionalHygiene: Perform cleaning activities such as dusting, mopping etc, on a scheduled and consistent basis"Break/fix": Perform minor fixes as needed, such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls, etc.Electronics: Check control panels and electrical wiring on a routine basis to identify potential issuesOutside Grounds: Ensure garden/yard upkeep by mowing lawn, trimming trees/bushes, collecting trash, etc.Help with snow removal when neededConduct routine maintenance tasks that include, but are not limited to: Replacing light bulbs Inspecting and troubleshooting equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation) Checking functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm) Collaborating with workers and other professionals during renovations Reporting issues to the Director of Finance, HR, & Operations and/or a maintenance manager Custodial
Daily
Vacuum and/or mop all floorsEmpty all trash receptaclesReplenish or replace paper towels, toilet paper, soap, air freshenersClean & sanitize all bathrooms, urinals, toilets, & mirrorsImmediate clean-up of accidentsClean door windows and sanitize doors/handles/knobsWipe or sanitize all desks and tables in all classroomsReport any issues or ongoing excessive need for cleaningsWeekly
Dust shelves, locker tops, and window ledgesRemove scuff marks on the floors or wallsSemi-Annual (August & December)
Clean display casesWash & disinfect trash receptaclesClean fans, screens, vents of heating and cooling unitsAnnual (Summer)
Window cleaning inside & outDetailed cleaning - all nooks & cranniesPaint/repair as needed or directedClean, sanitize, & repair all desks, chairs, and bathroom walls Remove wax build up along seams of baseboard before waxingWax floors and/or clean carpetsMechanical Maintenance
New Equipment: Install appliances and equipment as required and ensure all related documentation (ie, manuals, warranties, service providers, etc) is on file at EscuelaImplement a preventive maintenance program for school buildings and groundsSupport the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of the door lock system, fire alarm and sprinkler system, fire extinguishers, and other safety and security systems in place in collaboration with other Escuela staff.Support the upkeep, repair and maintenance of mechanical systems in the building including but not limited to the boiler heating system, the HVAC and cooling systems, electrical system internally and externally, building-wide plumbing Safety and Security
Assure school buildings, grounds, facilities and equipment are operational and safeInspect school buildings and grounds to assure that proper safety, cleaning and sanitation standards are maintainedChecking functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm)Large Scale Maintenance projects
Arrange for necessary repair work by vendors and or maintenance personnel; contact vendors by telephone/email as necessary; inspect and review work performed to assure school standards are met.Executing routine and scheduled maintenance to Escuela's equipment and building systems.Develop and execute a preventative maintenance process and schedule for Escuela's critical infrastructure (note: the actual work may be performed by 3rd parties in some cases)Expectations

Requirements
Skills and Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalentYears of experience: 4 years of building maintenance, custodial, or similar tradeSpecific training or licenses: Colorado Driver's License Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described, including related work experience in one or more of the building trades (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Carpentry), Language: Either English or SpanishAbility to read technical manuals and drawingsAbility to communicate effectively with supervisors, staff, faculty, and studentsKnowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in custodial, grounds keeping and building maintenance work.Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities.Follow Health and safety regulations.Use Proper lifting techniques.Successful completion of CBI & FBI Criminal background check Must be able to lift 50 pounds as neededMust be able to engage in physical labor about 90% of the timeMust be able to stand for extended periodsBe open to a flexible schedule when the schools needs necessitates itOpen to working in a Catholic Environment and respecting the Catholic faithPreferred Qualifications:
Experience in multiple tradesWorking knowledge of basic computer programs for record keeping, writing and printing, online searches; competent data entry skills with ability to input information accurately; prepare and maintain detailed records, files, and reports on an ongoing basisKnowledge of cleaning methods, products, suppliersKnowledge of mechanical systems and the ability to fix and service themWorking knowledge of managing vendors, invoices, and paymentsAble to build strong networks in and outside the organization
Salary Description
$40-50K annually based on experience
