Position Summary
Guggenheim Securities ("GS") is seeking a highly-motivated Equity Research Analyst or Associate to support a well-established Senior Research Analyst covering the Software sector.
The person will be responsible for conducting fundamental research on both public and private companies and maintaining complex financial models. Over time, the person will develop the ability to effectively articulate the business strategies of covered companies and stock recommendations to institutional investors and Guggenheim's institutional sales force. The ideal candidate should have excellent writing, financial modeling and communication skills, as well as demonstrate high aptitude for gathering and synthesizing relevant primary and secondary market data. Candidate must be detail-oriented, collaborative, and willing to travel periodically to industry events. This is a demanding but rewarding role with significant career upside.
This position is located in New York City.
Essential Job Functions
Conduct fundamental bottom up research, including but not limited to: analyzing disclosures and financial reports of public companies, and conducting due diligence on companies' products, sales and marketing models, and competitive landscapeAggregate and synthesize data on software industry trendsActively monitor market news, macro trends, and stock performances of covered companiesRegularly draft reports recapping companies' earnings results, relevant investment themes, events, and breaking newsBuild and maintain detailed financial models, including both discounted cash flow, SOTP, and comparable company analysis modelsInteract with the Firm's institutional sales force and investor clients, and respond to inquiries regarding research findings and directivesRegularly update analyst marketing decksPeriodically assist with survey design and collection, web-scraping, due diligence calls, and channel checksOccasionally travel to industry events, represent firm in a professional manner, and recap event highlights in timely fashionAssist with investor outreach, research distribution lists, occasional firm-hosted events, and contribute to collectively managed team calendarOver time, develop the ability to seamlessly communicate investment theses and stock recommendations, and contribute original research ideas
Preferred Qualifications
Fluency in modeling financial statementsComfortable with large data sets and reportingUnderstanding of the capital markets and stock markets, and a passion for investingExcellent written and oral communication skills to successfully convey investment messages, ideas, or nuances to team members, salespeople, and/or tradersOutstanding analytical skills; ability to conduct deep primary research, analysis, and draw conclusions from informationStrong interpersonal relationship skills and style conducive to building relationshipsAbility to thrive in a fast- paced, deadline-driven environment; self-starter with a proven commitment to producing high quality workTeam oriented, unquestionable honesty and integrity, intellectual curiosity, and dedication to providing clients with the best productsAbility to deliver under pressure and meet deadlines effectively
Basic Qualifications
1 - 5 years of relevant experienceB.A. or B.S. Degree requiredProficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and WordMust have or obtain SIE, 63, 86 and 87 licenses within 6 months of hire
Work Location
Currently, this role is expected to be in the New York office at least 4 days per week.
Salary
Annual base salary between $100,000 and $150,000.The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience. The range listed reflects base salary only, and the total compensation package may include other components such as incentive compensation.
