Regional Travel Required Field Technician Level 2 - Job Description 
Job involves performing additions, removals, and modifications to telecommunications equipment and wiring without supervision, including analyzing job specifications, resolving drawing issues, and performing in-process and final quality inspections. Key duties include adding/removing common systems equipment and wiring connections on non-working equipment, performing circuit modifications, and potentially leading Skill Level 1 and 2 Installers. This level requires proficiency in preparing MOPs and JIMs, as well as adherence to GR-1275 standards for Central Office and network equipment installation.
Responsibilities & Duties Unsupervised Work:  Perform additions, removals, and modifications to existing equipment and circuits without needing direct supervision or direction. Equipment & Wiring:  Add or remove common systems equipment, and add or remove wiring connections on non-working equipment. Documentation & Problem-Solving:  Analyze job specifications, drawings, and documentation to resolve problems and provide work assignments to lower-level installers. Quality Control:  Lead verification and continuity testing, perform in-process and final quality inspections, and mark or correct office record drawings. Technical Proficiency:  Be proficient in preparing detailed Method of Procedure (MOPs) documents and Job Information Memorandums (JIMs). Quality Standards:  Adhere to the installation methods and standards outlined in Telcordia GR-1275-CORE and customer-specific standards. Required Skills & Qualifications Demonstrated Proficiency:  Proven proficiency at the Technician II level through experience and knowledge of Telcordia standards, often demonstrated via customer or installation supplier requirements. Leadership Potential:  Capability to provide work assignments and lead lower-level installers (Skill Level 1 and 2). Technical Knowledge:  Solid understanding of telecommunications systems, electronics, and networking. Problem-Solving:  Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and coordinate with teams. Communication:  Effective written and verbal communication skills. Software Proficiency:  Familiarity with relevant software, including Microsoft Office. Key Differentiators from Skill Level 1 Independence:  The primary difference is the ability to work and resolve problems independently without supervision. Leadership:  A Level 2 technician has the capacity to lead and provide guidance to Skill Level 1 technicians. Advanced Documentation:  Proficiency in preparing detailed MOPs and JIMs is a requirement at this level. Work Environment Extensive Travel:  Requires significant travel away from home and the ability to work in various environments, including tight spaces and potentially at heights. Physical Demands:  Involves physically demanding work, including lifting and moving equipment, and requires working indoors or outdoors in various conditions.
