Escort patients as necessary from waiting area to cast room for analysis of needs. Remove and apply casts, both fiberglass and plaster, and other appliances as required. Assist in fracture reductions and minor surgical procedures. Remove sutures, staples, and apply bandages. Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment. Stock and maintain cast room and work space. Triage cast patients with problems in absence of physician, if necessary. Knowledge of fracture care coding along with CPT and ICD-10 codes. Assist with supply/DME ordering, inventory activities, receiving etc. responsible to assist in maintaining appropriate inventory levels at all times. Deliver DME products to clinic locations as needed. Obtaining authorization for custom braces and all DME prescribed for worker's compensation patients. Reviewing DME receipts to ensure billing of items on a daily basis. Responsible for patient care activities such as determining proper DME sizing, and fitting DME items. Work DME hold buckets in workflow dashboard in Athena throughout the day. Ensure DME orders and procedure documentation is complete prior to issuing DME.
Experience: One (1) year orthopaedic healthcare experience required. One (1) year of Ortho Tech or Two (2) years casting experience preferred. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. BLS certification required. Special Qualifications:
Must be able to work independently. Must have working knowledge of HIPAA requirements. Must have excellent computer skills. Must have a full understanding of basic medical terminology. Must have excellent communication skills both oral and written. Must have a valid driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR) Travel is required.
