Must be able to identify, manage, and treat specific skin disorders, primary and secondary lesions, and decubitus ulcers. Provide primary skin care to residents under the medical direction and supervision of the residents' attending physicians, or the Director of Nursing Services, with an emphasis on treatment and therapy of skin disorders.
Prepares and administers medications as ordered by the physician in accordance with nursing standards and facility policies. Signs, dates, and performs all charting and record keeping in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Provide demonstrations on dressing techniques to educate and orient in-services nurses; give hands-on instruction regarding the principles of aseptic technique.
Understands, complies with and promotes all rules regarding resident rights.
Provide a list of patients with Nosocomial pressure ulcers which includes patient's name, site, state, support surface and dates of evaluation to the Director of Nurses.
While performing daily rounds, assist in delivery of patient care to accomplish wound care tasks. Ensure that residents with decubitus ulcers received appropriate prophylaxis and treatment such as daily inspection, turning and activity, a well-planned diet, and maintaining a clean, dry bed.
