Responsible for formulating and administrating policies. Develops or coordinates directive material implementing these policies. Managerial oversight of training new professional staff members to the radiology service and to VA procedures and policies. Responsible for developing short and long-range plans. Oversees systematic reviews and assuring documentation and reporting of service transactions, activities, workload, etc. Serves as the principal administrative advisor and coordinator for the programs within the Radiology Service. The incumbent has knowledge of the policies and procedures governing these sections and programs and reviews new/proposed regulations for implementation. Evaluates the activities of Radiology Service programs with respect to economy and efficiency. Provides managerial advice and recommendations in the field of inpatient/outpatient health care planning, organization and management, within the Radiology Department, as well as with other clinical and operational departments. Managerial oversight of general service staff levels, clinics, exams, radiology protocols, techniques, etc. Coordinates with supervisors to ensure efficient and financial responsible operations of the Radiology department. Oversight of staff call and tour of duty schedules in coordination with the chief and supervisors as needed. Assess and prepares for substantial changes in workload demand including justifying changes in staffing levels, priorities, and deadlines. Assures staff and timekeepers are current on regulations governing time and leave practices, including overtime. Secures the cooperation of various Medical Center personnel in the application of administrative practices designed to increase program effectiveness, economy of operation, patient care and long range planning. Coordinates with radiology departmental staff and other departmental representatives to successfully integrate activities requiring Imaging engagement through direct interaction, remote conferencing, and delegation to appropriate staff in relevant specialties. Reviews data, completes reports, and presents analysis under limited direction from the Radiology Chief to the radiology leads/supervisors, other clinical departments, other hospital services, hospital executive leadership, VISN, National Radiology Program, and/or VHA Central office as needed. Participates with Service Chief in setting performance standards, goals and objectives of assigned or supervised employees. Reviews and provides managerial oversight of work in progress as well as when complete regarding problems in accuracy, quality, adherence to procedures, and takes corrective action as necessary. In conjunction with the COR and HTM, implements and maintains the contractual agreements that provide service to veterans and the radiology department. Recommends to higher authority changes that may increase costs or affect employees' status, limit services rendered or affect work outside the diagnostic section. Provides managerial oversight of certification of invoices and credit card orders for payment. Develops estimates of budget requirements based on experience, anticipated workload and production capability of work force and submits to the Radiology Chief. Provides radiology supervisors and leads with managerial oversight of supplies levels with special attention to emergency equipment. Develops strategic short- and long-term business, market and operational plans focused on the growth of clinical, academic, and financial performance.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66 Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
