We are seeking a dedicated ASCP Certified Medical Technologist to join our clinical laboratory team in a regional healthcare facility serving the Southern United States. This full-time, on-site role involves operating and maintaining various laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and timely test results. Key Responsibilities:
Perform quality control procedures and maintain detailed records to ensure laboratory standards are met. Document workload, billing information, and test results accurately in logs and computer systems. Receive, log, and process patient specimens, including centrifuging to separate components for analysis. Conduct special chemistry tests and prepare specimens with specific reagents following established protocols. Identify chemical compositions and concentrations, observing changes during testing. Adhere to standard precautions to maintain a safe testing environment. Calculate and document test results, promptly notifying healthcare providers of critical values. Verify specimen identity and test procedures to ensure accuracy and patient safety. Stay informed on new testing methods, products, and instrumentation to maintain current knowledge. Communicate effectively within the department and with supervisors to manage workload and urgent testing needs. Understand and apply age-specific normal ranges for test results, including pediatric and adult variations. Comply with all regulatory standards including CLIA, OSHA, and The Joint Commission. Adapt to changing workloads and staffing needs across shifts and sections. Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission and values of the organization.
Education: A bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field is required. Certification by ASCP or equivalent is preferred. Experience: Previous experience in a clinical laboratory setting performing a variety of diagnostic tests is highly desirable. Requirements: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance is essential.
