Assist with patient admissions, including orientation to unit routines and equipment. Respond promptly to patient needs, either directly or by notifying appropriate personnel. Support the nursing care plan by performing delegated patient care tasks. Maintain patient safety through proper use of equipment and supplies. Manage medication and supply retrieval for patient care. Keep the patient environment clean and well-stocked. Participate in cost containment and accurate patient service charging. Engage in educational and performance improvement activities. Perform waived testing and maintain required skills per unit competency. Demonstrate responsibility for customer satisfaction and patient throughput.
Education and Formal Training: High school diploma or equivalent required. Nursing Assistant certification mandatory. Current registration with the appropriate state nursing assistant registry required. Experience: No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to read and understand English. Flexibility in work tasks and schedules. Basic computer skills and understanding of age-specific patient care considerations. Ability to learn new skills and techniques quickly. Physical Requirements: Ability to work variable shifts with frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and patient turning. Visual and auditory acuity necessary for patient observation. Exposure to blood and body fluids possible, requiring adherence to safety protocols. Licenses and Certifications: Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association and Nursing Assistant certification from the state registry.
