Responsibilities I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES: • Performs clinical diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and other procedures associated with the production of MRI images. • Provides patient care during procedures. II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Seeing, hearing, speaking, finger dexterity. • Constant: repetitive arm and wrist movement consistent with computer/mouse usage. • Frequent: sitting, walking, lifting/carrying usual weight of 1 pound up to 30 pounds. • Occasional: standing, stooping/bending, kneeling, squatting, twisting body, reaching above, at, and below shoulder, repetitive arm/hand motions, horizontal lift/carry up to 50 pounds. • Infrequent: pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds of force. III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: • Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions. • Subjected to noise from MRI machine. • Exposure to working with magnetic field (NO pacemakers, neurostimulators, etc.) Minimal exposure to Cyrogens, Nitrogen, and Helium, used as a coolant for the MRI machine. • Must be able to adjust schedule for "on-call" coverage involving, but not limited to, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: • Current certification in one (1) of the following: o Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T.). If not certified upon hire, certification must be obtained within one (1) year of entrance into the position. o Certification in MRI by the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) required upon hire. • Current BLS certification. B. EXPERIENCE: • One (1) year as a registered technologist in a medical imaging field employing cross sectional imaging techniques preferred. • Prior recent MRI technologist experience preferred. • Experience to demonstrate: o Knowledge of computers, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology required. o Knowledge of MRI safety operations and capabilities.
