Pharmacy Technician Iii – Chemotherapy And Hazardous Sterile Preparations Under the direct supervision of the pharmacist, the pharmacy technician responsible for preparing chemotherapy, hazardous, and other medications for patients in Centers for Cancer and Blood Disorders (Ccbd) in both inpatient and clinic settings. Responsibilities: · Inventory management of chemotherapy and supportive care mediations in the Ccbd pharmacy satellite · Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining integrity of sterile compounding areas · Maintain and monitor proper documentation of compounding, cleaning (including deactivations and decontamination of hazardous drugs), testing, and certification of equipment and compounding areas. · Functions both independently and in a team environment · Compounds chemotherapy and related medications with high efficiency and delivers medications throughout the Ccbd space · Triages and streamlines medication compounding to effectively compound high cost and short dated chemotherapy · Efficient operation of specialty machinery, equipment, and technology (e.g. baxa pumps, dispense prep and check) · Perform additional responsibilities as necessary Work experience:
At least 5 years experience as a hospital pharmacy technician required
Education:
High school diploma or GED One-year vocational / technical school degree is preferred
Licenses and certifications:
Registration with the Texas state board of pharmacy (Tsbp) as a registered technician required Maintenance of the Cpht license is required Aseptic sterile technique (IV) certification is required Completion of chemotherapy certification within 90 days of hire is required
