POSITION SUMMARY: The primary responsibilities of the role include all aspects of processing, decontamination through set assembly, and sterilization and/or high-level disinfection. Dependent on the clinical setting preparation of surgical case carts and materials management may be expectations of the role. This is a part-time position! DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Separate and prepare contaminated instrumentation for cleaning. Prepare, install, assemble, clean, and sterilize/disinfect operating room or procedure room equipment and instrumentation and medical devices. Decontaminate, process, sterilize/disinfect, and distribute medical supplies. Inspect and perform functional checks on instrumentation/equipment to assure proper functioning prior to set/tray assembly. Process, wrap, and label all equipment and instrumentation for sterilization using appropriate wraps and containers. Perform proper documentation as it relates to the sterilization/HLD process. Perform all duties relating to daily maintenance for all types of sterilizers/re-processors. Communicate departmental equipment and supply needs to appropriate supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent Completion of Sterile Processing education from an accredited school or training program BLS certification (as required by individual ASC policy) PREFERRED: Experience in a sterile processing department Ambulatory Surgery Center experience
