Job Title: Phlebotomist Specialty: Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Services Site: Dayton VA Medical Center Location: 4100 West Third Street, Dayton, OH 45428 Duration: 6-month base contract with a 6-month option period Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday, 0700-1530 (8-hour shifts) How Many Shifts Needed Per Month: Full-time equivalent (approx. 80 hours per two-week pay period; 3120 hours per 6 months total for all 3) Credentialing / Onboarding Time: 6-8 weeks Certifications:
Phlebotomy Certification
Current BLS
Experience Needed: 2 years phlebotomy experience in hospital or high-volume clinical setting preferred Special Skills Needed:
Venipuncture and specimen collection
Maintain hemolysis rate ≤ 2%
STAT draw turnaround within 30 minutes
Specimen processing and labeling accuracy
Knowledge of infection control standards
Responsibilities:
Perform venipuncture and specimen collection for inpatient and outpatient veterans.
Ensure specimen integrity, proper labeling, and timely transport to laboratory.
Maintain compliance with VA policies, CAP standards, and infection control protocols.
Participate in mandatory training and quality monitoring programs.
