TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include working days, evenings and/or weekends. Applicants with academic credentials from non-U.S. accredited institutions are required to have their coursework evaluated in terms of U.S. "equivalency." All international credential evaluations must be conducted by one of the companies affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES®) in order to be considered for a faculty position. Applicants bear the responsibility of requesting, paying associated fees, and obtaining an original transcript evaluation for submission to the Office of Human Resources. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES An Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Lab Assistant works with students to provide appropriate learning experiences that enhance students' knowledge and facilitate their application of theoretical knowledge in clinical/skills practice.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Instruct and supervise a diverse population of students in the lab and/or hospital setting at various times and locations Provide direct supervision of designated students requiring attendance in the clinical setting and availability to the students at all times during clinical rotation
Consistently demonstrate clinical competence in the area of practice Assess and suggest appropriate learning excises available to the student within program objectives Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and oral Foster and maintain regular communication with faculty regarding student progress according to program objectives
Assess students' lab skill/clinical performance through a range of measurement activities Other duties as assigned WORK ENVIRONMENT The incumbent typically works in a lab environment and uses simulated and genuine EMS equipment as needed to instruct students. The incumbent also works in a hospital setting when precepting students.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand for long periods, walk, run, reach, bend, and lift up to ninety (90) pounds.
QUALIFICATIONSCertified TDSHS Paramedic Certification required Current AHA Healthcare Provider BLS Certification required Current ACLS Provider Certification required Minimum one (1) year experience as a TDSHS Paramedic at a 911 EMS service required Demonstrates clinical competence as a paramedic A desire to teach Excellent communication skills Maintenance of uncompromised state licensure/certification PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBilingual English/Spanish
