Engineering & Major Projects (E&MP) is responisible for the efficient delivery of major projects and engineering solutionsrequired by ESB and its customers to lead the transition to reliable, affordable, low carbon energy at home and internationally Networks Engineering Civil & Environmental Engineering -Senior Civil & Structural Engineer Join Networks Civil & Environmental Engineering (NCEE) as a senior professional civil and structural engineer where we deliver innovative and efficient engineering solutions for our partners in E&MP. The NCEE Civil Structural & Building Standards Team delivers a focused service for projects undertaken within EMP and specialises in: Civil Structural design and due diligence Building Compliance management Appraisals of existing infrastructure We are looking for a Senior Civil and Structural Engineer to join us to become a key member of the team on our journey to a Brighter Future. Key Responsibilities Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, Acting as Networks Engineering Civil & Environmenrals lead on assigned projects and overseeing the full design, review, and delivery of medium- to large-scale works. Support statutory compliance by acting as PSDP shadow, Ensuring all design activities align with legal obligations and project safety requirements. Deliver and oversee civil and structural engineering design, Including scoping, procurement, preparation of design packages, and management of all C&S inputs throughout the project lifecycle. Provide expert technical guidance from concept to detailed design, Ensuring engineering solutions are high-quality, accurate, and compliant with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations. Manage civil works contracts and coordinate contractors and sub-consultants Ensuring smooth execution, aligned disciplines, and effective project administration. Proactively identify and mitigate design, construction, and constructability risks Maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and best practice across all project phases. Support professional and technical development Including mentoring, tutoring, and knowledge-sharing across teams. Experience and Qualifications Essential A recognizable Level 8 degree in Civil and Structural Engineering Minimum 5 years relevant consultancy experience. Familiarity with applicable Codes and Standards and industry current best practice Experience with computer analysis and design packages Excellent communication and report writing skills Experience with working in multi-disciplinary teams delivering medium to large scale projects. Experience in the use of Eurocodes Full driving licence and access to a car Desirable A recognizable Level 9 degree in Civil and Structural Engineering Chartered status of a recognised Professional Institution Location This role is based in either E&MP Dublin/ Cork offices but travel to project locations as required is a key requirement of the role. The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least two anchor days per week .
