Job Summary: Provide compassionate, patient- and family-centered nursing care within a surgery unit, fostering a supportive environment that exemplifies best practices and outstanding customer service. This role emphasizes relationship-based care and upholds professional nursing standards guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, Nursing Process, and regulatory agency requirements. Essential Responsibilities:
Effectively manage time and resources, prioritizing critical tasks while balancing short- and long-term objectives. Apply clinical expertise to make appropriate patient care assignments based on acuity and technical needs. Engage in continuous learning and apply evidence-based practices to enhance workplace quality. Deliver excellent patient and visitor relations, embodying core values such as respect, integrity, collaboration, empathy, and courage. Communicate proactively with patients and healthcare teams to manage expectations and ensure a positive care experience. Maintain a therapeutic environment by minimizing noise and supporting healthcare students and programs. Prioritize patient and workplace safety by adhering to national safety standards, HIPAA, and Just Culture principles. Demonstrate leadership and pursue professional growth opportunities including certifications and advanced degrees. Foster teamwork through coaching, mentoring, and collaborative feedback. Education and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program or, if unaccredited, a minimum of five years acute care nursing experience. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required within five years of hire; enrollment in an accelerated MSN program is acceptable. Completion and maintenance of area-specific certifications such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, or specialty certifications.
Licensure: Active Registered Nurse licensure as required by the state nursing board. This position operates within a regional healthcare setting in the Midwest, offering a collaborative and supportive environment dedicated to high-quality surgical nursing care.
