Adhere to all relevant health and safety standards. In-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures, including aseptic and sterile techniques. Ability to collaborate with surgeons and other healthcare professionals. Solid understanding of patient health and safety standards. Performs a thorough assessment in accordance with unit standards and or patient condition, and based on this assessment, plans and implements care appropriately. Provides monitoring /assessment of the patient receiving conscious sedation in accordance with policy. Performs circulating duties in accordance to procedure, demonstrating skill and efficiency, displaying the surgical consciousness required within this highly specialized environment. Monitors operating room equipment, supplies, and medication par levels and provides a needs list to the Director or person responsible for ordering. Demonstrates ability to properly utilize all equipment for specific procedures or seeks appropriate resource. Demonstrates self-direction above and beyond daily assignment and actively offers assistance to colleagues both internally and externally. Demonstrates ability to accurately and thoroughly complete operative nursing record documentation, i.e. surgical site confirmation, patient identification verification, and time-out procedures. Demonstrates collegially behavior of respect and consideration with regard to work environment, i.e. restocking rooms, returning equipment/supplies for other surgical procedures, cleaning work areas/station and or communicate as appropriate. Performs assessment/re-assessment in accordance with unit standards and/or patient condition. Demonstrates ability to intervene when patient condition warrants, per department protocol. Dons appropriate equipment in areas of risk, i.e. personal protective equipment's, including eye protection when scrubbing and radiation safety equipment when X-ray is in use. Provides privacy for the patients/family in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Will document infection control data as required for quarterly reporting to New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services. Identifies cultural/religious needs, language barriers, developmental and educational needs and modifies plan of care as necessary to accommodate these needs. Appropriately handles situations when ethical dilemmas arise. Based on assessment, plans and implements care appropriately including the patient/family/significant other whenever possible. Demonstrates knowledge of procedures including set-up, patient care, specimen collection and handling, point of use testing and documentation, and proper utilization and care of all equipment needed. Identifies opportunities to improve performance within the unit and assists with the application of these opportunities (Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement, QAPI) As a professional, understands the concepts of customer service and acts accordingly and with grace under pressure. Apply aseptic and sterile techniques to medical instruments and equipment before, during, and after surgery Attendance: works as scheduled and is compliant with Attendance and Tardiness Policy Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate Degree required; Bachelor's preferred Active NH Registered Nurse License required BCLS and ACLS Certification required 1-3 years of experience required CNOR preferred
