Graduation from high school is necessary; two years of college with courses in health science area is desirable. Successful completion of Michigan Medicine's 12-week training program is required or some experience as an Ophthalmic Technician is required. Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology is required within one year of employment. This classification requires Primary Source Verification. Graduation from high school. Reasonable experience as an Ophthalmic Technician. Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology. This classification requires Primary Source Verification. Associate's Degree in health care. 1-3 years of Ophthalmic Technician experience. Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records and medical terminology is desirable. Respectful and compassionate attitude. Able to maintain confidentiality and follow all guidelines for documentation. Collaborative and collegial, demonstrates integrity. Organized, able to maintain and coordinate multiple items. Excellent computer skills; proficient in data entry, analysis, graphing, Microsoft Office. Familiarity with electronic equipment. Monday- Friday, dependent on clinical needs This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment. Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses. Job openings are posted for a minimum of seven calendar days. The review and selection process may begin as early as the eighth day after posting.
