Key Responsibilities: • Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and programs to maintain a safe work environment. • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations. • Provide safety training to employees, subcontractors, and other personnel as required. • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions. • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incidents. • Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to develop safety plans for each project. • Stay up-to-date with safety regulations, industry trends, and best practices. • Conduct safety audits and participate in regulatory inspections. • Coordinate with external safety consultants, regulatory agencies, and client representatives as needed. • Promote a safety culture by encouraging employees to report hazards and participate in safety initiatives. • Responsible for purchasing and distributing safety equipment for employees. • Support project teams and job sites primarily across the Rio Grande Valley. Skills and Qualifications • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. • Minimum of seven (7) consecutive years dedicated solely to building construction safety, with at least five (5) years of building construction safety management experience. • Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, and industry best practices. • Proactive approach to workplace safety, hazard recognition, and risk mitigation. • Practical knowledge, working experience, and documented continuing education in the following areas:
Fall Protection Scaffold Safety (Ground Supported and Suspended) Excavation and Trenching Confined Space (Permit and Non-Permit) Crane Operations Electrical Safety Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis Industrial Hygiene for Construction Fire Protection and Prevention Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Basic Crane Rigging Respiratory Protection Note: Training of less than four (4) hours per topic will not be considered acceptable. • Demonstrated experience conducting incident investigations, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions. • Ability to teach, coach, and mentor others on established safety standards and safe work practices. • Strong critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities. • Professional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with project teams, subcontractors, and leadership. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, Procore, and other construction-related software applications. • Computer literacy and comfort utilizing technology commonly used in the construction industry. Certifications and Training Requirements • OSHA 30 Certification required. • OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 Certification required. • Current certification and documented competency in:
Emergency First Aid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certifications must include in-person demonstration of competency and be current within the last two (2) years. Additional Requirements • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record. • Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to project sites as required. • Travel throughout Texas and other project locations may be required. • Availability to work nights, weekends, and extended hours as business needs dictate. • Participation in ongoing internal and external professional development training is required. • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and active construction environments. • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. The Assistant Quality Control Manager is regularly required to: • Walk, climb stairs, sit, and stand. • Talk and hear at normal levels. • See with close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and have the ability to adjust focus. • Reach with hands and arms. • Use hands and fingers to operate tools and other business machines. • Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
