Performing thorough patient evaluations, overseeing diagnostic testing, and creating tailored care strategies Diagnosing and managing acute, episodic, or chronic conditions in partnership with physicians or on your own (depending on your credentials) Guiding patients and families on health promotion, prevention, and chronic condition management Writing prescriptions and therapies within your defined practice scope Engaging in follow-up care and chronic disease management Cooperating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, patient-centered care Meticulously documenting all patient interactions within the electronic medical records (EMR) system Education Requirements
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Graduation from a recognized Nurse Practitioner program Essential Certifications
Active Nurse Practitioner license in Texas National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C, AANP or ANCC) or equivalent specialization Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (or ability to gain them within three months) Attributes That Make You Stand Out
