As a Speech Language Pathologist in one of Texas's bustling urban hubs, you'll embark on a journey that goes beyond helping individuals navigate communication challenges. You'll have the power to ignite aspirations, rekindle self-esteem, and forge connections - helping children articulate their first words to assisting seniors in reclaiming their voices. This position allows you to make your mark across a diverse age spectrum in an engaging environment that combines outpatient therapy with intermittent inpatient responsibilities. Whether your passion lies in nurturing young speech skills, rehabilitating adults with neurological communication impairments, or supporting older adults in cognitive-linguistic therapy, you'll encounter both satisfaction and adaptability in this role. Description
Conduct comprehensive evaluations of clients from pediatric through geriatric age groups using standardized tests and observational techniques to gather crucial data. Craft individualized treatment strategies that focus on both short and long-term objectives tailored to enhance communication, cognitive abilities, or swallowing functions. Deliver personalized speech therapy sessions accentuating communication, language skills, fluency, voice, and swallowing therapy. Engage with fellow healthcare professionals including physical and occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, and families to develop synergistic care plans. Provide educational resources for patients and their families to encourage skill development beyond therapy sessions. Participate in occasional inpatient speech therapy assessments and interventions to maintain a seamless continuum of care. Ensure timely and precise documentation in accordance with organizational, state, and federal mandates. Remain updated with contemporary practices in the field through continuous education and collaboration with peers. Education
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution. Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) for those not yet certified by ASHA. Certifications
Active state license as a Speech Language Pathologist. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of employment commencement. Skills
Expertise in evidence-informed treatment strategies across all age groups, with a solid knowledge of both developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing challenges. Outstanding communication abilities with patients, their families, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team. Capacity to modify therapeutic techniques to cater to a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Strong clinical judgment combined with effective problem-solving skills. Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and compliance standards. Benefits
Attractive compensation reflective of professional experience. Flexible scheduling options that support a healthy work-life balance along with diverse patient cases. Pathways to focus your practice on pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatrics. Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday compensation. Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage options. Support for continuing education and opportunities for professional development. A collaborative environment centered on high-quality care and ongoing learning.
