Nice to Have Skills & Experience: Experience with digital backbone and nodal access units a big plus Strong understanding of network architecture and best practices. Advanced knowledge of VPNs, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and access control mechanisms. Familiarity with NIST, ISO27001 standards. Experienced in defining and enforcing firewall policies, rules, and access controls to protect networks from unauthorized access and threats. Knowledgeable about network security concepts, including intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), NAT (Network Address Translation), and port forwarding. Proficient in monitoring firewall logs and analyzing traffic to identify and mitigate security threats. Basic skills in network automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible) can be beneficial. Skills in managing and allocating public and private IP addresses. Experience with subnetting and CIDR Strong understanding of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) and best practices Experience with open standards/interfaces such as components communicating through non-proprietary, consensus-based standards (e.g., VITA/VPX, SOSA, DDS) Experience with networking hardware interface control documents (ICDs) Experience with advanced networking such as software-defined networking (SDN) is a big plus
Job Description: An employer in the Greenville, TX market is looking for a Network Engineer to join their team. This person will be responsible for the below: • Design and develop secure network architectures supporting voice, video, and data systems across airborne and ground platforms • Maintain and optimize LAN, MAN, and WAN networks, including terrestrial and BLOS communication links • Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot routing, switching, and firewall infrastructure across multi-vendor environments • Develop and execute network test procedures to validate system performance and ensure compliance with requirements • Monitor network traffic and firewall logs to detect, analyze, and mitigate security threats • Implement and enforce network security policies, firewall rules, and access controls • Manage and allocate public and private IP addressing schemes, including subnetting and CIDR • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure integration across systems and platforms • Support the development and adherence to network standards, architectures, and best practices • Document system configurations, architectures, and interface requirements (including ICDs where applicable)
