The Department of Physical Therapy is currently seeking a part time Physical Therapist Assistant 2 to work in Miami, FL. The Physical Therapy Assistant 2 assists with a patient's rehabilitative activities, and additionally provides administrative assistance for business operations and service delivery in the UHealth Physical Therapy clinic locations. The Physical Therapy Assistant 2 helps with the management of day-to-day operations, assists in supervision of therapy staff, and assists in efficient management of quality service. The incumbent ensures effective and efficient workflow / staffing, marketing of services, assists in program development as needed, and assists with supervision and direction of quality improvement activities.
Core Job Functions
- Provides physical therapy treatment to patients in accordance with an established treatment plan as directed by a physical therapist.
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to apply therapeutic principles and practices within the scope of professional limitations.
- Progresses patients skillfully and safely through the levels of treatment within the maximum capabilities of the patient.
- Consults with supervising Physical Therapist regarding patient progress and changes in patient's condition, or with suggestions for revisions in treatment.
- Documents all treatment and other pertinent patient interaction in accordance with UHealth policies. Develops and maintains effective communication with the patient, family, and other members of the rehabilitation team.
- Provides relevant education and information to patient and family regarding medical conditions, home programs and home activities.
- Utilizes treatment tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Maintains a satisfactory level of productivity and demonstrates willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of crisis and real clinic need.
- Participates in quality and safety improvement activities. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal, local, and state guidelines and regulations, with strict adherence to HIPPA regulations.
- Serve as a resource for management in day-to-day operations.
- Acts as a collaborator, trainer, and a mentor for fellow PTA staff and Clinic Assistants through example and direct clinical support.
- Participate in the department's educational mission of clinical instruction as needed.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Core Qualifications
Education: Associate Degree in relevant field
Certification and Licensing: Active State of Florida Physical Therapist Assistant License
Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends, as necessary.

Department Addendum
Department Specific Functions
- All duties and functions of a PTA I.
- Assist in ensuring employee issues and patient needs are brought to the attention of the Clinic Manager.
- Assist with unforeseen staffing challenges, absorbing caseloads, as needed and appropriate.
- Work with department leadership and other team members to quality improvement programs and operational projects.
- Work with department leadership and other team members to implement effective marketing and PR activities, as needed.
- Engage in professional development activities, continuing education, and advocacy for the profession of physical therapy.
- Completion of 50 hours of live CEUs in relevant specialty area.
- Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
Department Specific Qualifications
Education: Graduate of a Physical Therapy Assistant program approved by the APTA
Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Certification and Licensing: Holds a current state license as a Physical Therapist Assistant
Experience: 5 years of experience as a PTA, some prior leadership responsibility is preferred.
