Job Details Key Responsibilities
Manage a varied docket of workers’ compensation files from intake through trial
Draft and file pleadings, motions and discovery documents in administrative forums
Conduct depositions and appear at mandatory settlement conferences, hearings and trials
Strategize with claims adjusters, in-house counsel and risk managers to advance favorable outcomes
Negotiate resolutions and draft settlement agreements that protect client interests
Maintain precise, timely billing entries to satisfy monthly targets
Mentor junior lawyers and collaborate with support staff to streamline workflows
Qualifications
Active membership in the California bar
Minimum of three years defending workers’ compensation claims for employers or carriers
Demonstrated ability to bill north of 180 hours per month consistently
Strong litigation skills, sound case-assessment abilities and practical judgment
Exceptional written drafting and oral advocacy
Capacity to juggle multiple matters and keep case files organized
Familiarity with case management software and electronic filing systems
