Mobile Services Assistant Part-Time
Location: Mobile Services, located in the Middlefield Library Reports to: Mobile Services Supervisor Pay: $14.00 Bring the Library on the Road! As a Mobile Services Assistant, you'll help prepare library vehicles for scheduled community stops, support office operations, and deliver outstanding customer service to every patron you meet. If you're organized, flexible, and love connecting with people, this role puts you right at the heart of our mission to take the library beyond our walls. Position Summary:
Prepares vehicle(s) for the days' scheduled stops. Performs computer and clerical tasks in the office. Provides excellent customer service to all patrons. Essential Job Functions:
Cleans and stocks the vehicle(s) appropriately for the day. Gathers appropriate materials from the GCPL collection to be placed on the vehicles. Assists in checking materials out and in for Mobile Services patrons/programs. Prepares the returned materials for shelving or transfer/delivery to other libraries. Changes book status in library computer program as appropriate. Places holds for patrons. Replaces barcodes and tapes materials as required. Oversees mending of items in Mobile Services collection. Prints daily reports, searches for, and routes daily holds requests. Answers phones when in the Mobile Services office and assists patrons on phone as needed. Writes up patron requests for materials and includes all pertinent information. Offers Readers Advisory in the Office (via phone and written requests) and recommends titles and/or subject areas to supervisor for possible purchase. Assists volunteers with Amish School sets. Inspects books and washes crates after they are returned at the end of each school year. Assists on Bookmobile stops, or Outreach events as needed. Responsible for maintaining the clean appearance of vehicles and office work area. Reports to Mobile Services Supervisor and/or Manager any damage or safety issues. Assists with various programs and contests. Checks employee emails, reads Branching Out, and other GCPL communications. Attends training as required or recommended by administration or supervisor. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:
Willingness and adaptability to work in a changing work environment. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Must have sufficient computer skills/abilities to use the library's computer system, email, Internet and online databases, social media, and the like. Works under direct supervision yet must be able to work independently once trained. Must be familiar with library resources. Safely observes all PERRP procedures. Minimum Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
High school diploma/GED. A valid Ohio driver's license, proof of vehicle insurance. Has reliable transportation in order to meet work obligations such as meetings and delivering or picking up Amish School sets when necessary. Successful completion of a background check. Physical Requirements:
Ability to regularly lift and carry 30-40 lb. bags of books up and down vehicle steps with or without assistance. Ability to stand 90% of working time. Ability to work in a confined space. Ability to operate objects, tools, or controls
including computers, phones, office equipment. Ability to read computer screens and print material. Ability to bend, stretch, walk and/or kneel in order to shelve books on vehicles, both the highest and lowest shelving. Equal Employment Opportunity Statement
