*JOB PURPOSE*
*Main Purpose*
Hands-on Junior IT Support Engineer to provide critical on-site desktop and physical hardware support across our Kings Langley Headquarters, our London office and on constructions sites as needed.
*Responsibility*
This role forms a vital bridge between our physical offices and our external strategic Managed Service Provider (MSP), who delivers comprehensive remote tier-2 and tier-3 systems infrastructure support.
*Reporting Duties*
Report to the Kings Langley Office Manager
*KEY RESPONSIBILITIES*
Crucially, this is a non-administrative execution role. To maintain institutional security boundaries, the successful candidate will operate within standard end-user access environments. Domain administration, server access control, and network infrastructure modifications are entirely handled remotely by our strategic support provider. The junior engineer serves as the critical on-site 'smart hands' to troubleshoot hardware, manage local workstations, and assist in guiding and training staff on software utilization under the explicit guidance of the external MSP.
*On-Site Hardware Deployment: *Act as local 'smart hands' to physically unbox, set up, and configure laptops, desktops, monitors, and workspace docking stations across both offices.
*Physical Device Management: *Execute hardware asset checks, label physical devices with tracking tags, and coordinate local office inventories.
*1st-Line Workstation Triage: *Troubleshoot end-user physical glitches, local printer connections, cable issues, meeting room audio-visual screens, and phone setups.
*Staff Training & Guidance: *Help train staff face-to-face on the correct utilization of core systems (Microsoft 365, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams) following strict instructional runbooks and guidelines provided by the external support partner.
*Ticket Brokerage: *Log detailed, clear descriptions of localized end-user incidents that need to be escalated directly into the ticketing platform so the external MSP can process the request smoothly.
*New Starter Orientations: *Physically issue prepared laptops to new employees on day one, guiding them through standard login steps and security MFA setups under remote guidance.
*Explicit Security Boundaries & Access Limits*
*IMPORTANT: NO ADMINISTRATIVE PRIVILEGES AVAILABLE*
To adhere strictly to cyber compliance standards, this position operates with regular user access permissions only. All infrastructure-level changes, administrator accounts, password resets, firewall policies, Active Directory or Entra ID modifications, and global tenant controls are owned entirely by the remote IT support provider. The Junior Engineer must never request or utilize elevated admin tokens.
*Candidate Requirements & Attributes*
Strong interpersonal skills with a patient, customer-service-driven mindset to support non-technical staff face-to-face.
Basic familiarity with Windows 11 desktop systems, Microsoft 365 core software, and basic PC hardware connections.
Exceptional organizational traits, capable of reliably following checklists and guidelines issued by our remote MSP.
Excellent communication skills to write clean, clear technical problem descriptions inside our support ticketing platform.
Willingness and flexibility to split weekly working hours dynamically between our Kings Langley and London Offices as well as construction sites as operationally required.
Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
