Role Overview We are seeking a dedicated, hands-on Construction Safety Specialist to act as a vital safety advocate and technical resource for our field operations. In this role, you will partner directly with project leadership, general foremen, and craft personnel to foster a highly proactive, zero-injury safety culture across active job sites. You will be responsible for ensuring strict compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory mandates, developing comprehensive site safety roadmaps, and leading incident analysis. The ideal candidate is a natural relationship builder who excels at engaging directly with field crews to champion safety as a core value for our workforce, the public, and the environment.
Key Responsibilities Field Safety Leadership & Compliance • Regulatory Oversight: Conduct regular site assessments to enforce compliance with OSHA regulations and local environmental health and safety laws. • Technical Standards: Apply a practical working knowledge of electrical industry consensus standards (including NFPA, NESC, ASTM, and ANSI) to daily field operations and high-risk task planning. • Safety Roadmaps: Partner with project management to author, update, and implement comprehensive Project Safety Roadmaps tailored to specific project phases.
Incident Investigation & Case Management • Root-Cause Analysis: Support the General Foreman and site leadership in executing objective, thorough incident and near-miss investigations. • Case Facilitation: Manage all occupational injury and illness cases from initial response through complete documentation and return-to-work coordination. • Hazard Mitigation: Track safety trends on site and implement actionable corrective measures to eliminate operational risks.
Field Coaching & Engagement • Crew Collaboration: Spend significant time on the production floor/field building strong, trust-based relationships with field personnel to drive safety adoption. • Training Support: Assist in delivering site-specific safety orientations, toolbox talks, and CPR/First Aid training or certifications as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements • Experience: oMinimum of 3 years of active construction safety experience. oSpecific safety experience within electrical utility infrastructure, substations, transmission/distribution, or large-scale commercial electrical projects is highly preferred. • Certifications & Licensure: oValid OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification is required. oActive CPR/First Aid certification is required (Trainer designation is preferred). oBoard of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) credentials (such as CHST, ASP, or CSP) are highly preferred. oValid state-issued driver's license with a satisfactory driving record (MVR check required). • Education: High School Diploma or GED required. A Bachelor's degree in EHS, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is a strong plus.
Physical Demands & Work Environment • Dynamic Work Settings: Comfort working in both indoor field offices and active, variable outdoor construction settings. • Physical Capabilities: Ability to stand, walk over uneven terrain, sit, bend, climb ladders, navigate confined spaces occasionally, and safely lift up to 40 lbs.
