Acclaimed LA concept has a rare opening for an Executive Pastry Chef. This is a unique hybrid role that features both plated desserts as well as a curated bakery component. Due to the latter, this role has an early morning start and the Exec Pastry Chef predominantly works day shifts, overseeing the well-staffed pastry team, morning bakes, and production for dinner service. The dessert program is entirely from scratch and highly seasonal, having won awards over the years. Searching for an individual who is passionate about their craft and has experience in busy restaurant and/or bakery! Executive Pastry Chef Responsibilities: Lead production and execution of bakery and production for dinner service. Collaborate closely with ownership on seasonal shifts, new menu items and general recipe ideation. Overseeing operational and administrative aspects of the Pastry Kitchen and team. Minimizing waste and sourcing superior products. Maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Training, coaching and developing staff to achieve standards of excellence. Creating a positive work environment through effective communication and care for staff. Executive Pastry Chef Preferred Requirements: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Pastry Chef overseeing a team of at least 5 pastry cooks in a respected kitchen Michelin, James Beard, or World's 50 Best experience highly preferred Experience operating a sheeter, mixer, proofer and baking ovens Attention to detail and the ability to produce bakery items to exacting specifications in a timely manner The flexibility to collaborate closely with ownership The ability to create recipes and builds Excellent communication skills and leadership qualities Ability to thrive in a high volume environment Exceptional standards for cleanliness, health, and safety Flexible schedule, including weekends, and on holidays Benefits Include: Competitive Base Salary in the $80-$100k range Medical, dental, and vision insurance options Life insurance PTO plan
