ICCHC provides multi-disciplinary, comprehensive health care services, including dental care. Our dental services provide a full array of preventative and restorative dental services for patients three years of age and over./ppICCHC is currently seeking full-time Dental Assistants for its Lafayette and Abbeville locations./ppThis position works under the supervision of the Staff Dentists and Dental Director, the Certified Dental Assistant renders dental care to patients. The Dental Assistant performs semi-technical dental and routine clerical work in a dental department located in a community health center. Work involves assisting the dentist during examinations and treatment, cleanings, sterilizing, and arranging instruments, assisting the dentist with x-rays and performs routine tasks according to standards, procedures and instructions./ppThe CDA must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical education, safety and related criteria for the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric population./ppQualifications:/pulliHigh School Graduate and a graduate of a State approved Dental Assistant School/liliSix months of experience in a dentists office or completion of a Dental Assistant training course/liliCPR certification by the American Board for Dental Assisting preferred/liliKnowledgeable of the types of dental instruments and their use; techniques of effective sterilization and x-ray/liliSkilled in mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity/liliAble to follow written instructions to learn technical knowledge and dental procedures, to work with people who are mentally ill or physically handicapped, to post and maintain accurate and correct records of treatments administered, appointments including x-rays/liliMust have a positive attitude towards working with low-income families/li/ul/div
