Together, these facilities offer patients the best rehab and nursing care they can obtain after their hospital discharge.

The Rehab Technician (CNA) is a dual-role position that combines Rehab Aide and Patient Transporter responsibilities within a skilled nursing or rehabilitation facility. This role supports the Rehabilitation Department by assisting therapists and safely transporting residents to and from therapy sessions.

The Rehab Technician ensures safe, efficient resident transport, helps maintain therapy operations, and contributes to high-quality patient care. All responsibilities are performed in compliance with New York State regulations and facility policies.

Assist Physical Therapists (PT), Occupational Therapists (OT), and Speech Therapists (SLP) with treatment setup and cleanup

Prepare therapy equipment, treatment areas, and supplies for daily rehab sessions

Support residents during non-skilled therapy activities under therapist supervision

Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the rehab gym and treatment areas

Observe and report resident status, concerns, or changes to therapy staff

Perform infection control procedures and sanitize rehab equipment

Safely transport residents via wheelchair or mobility devices within the facility

Escort residents to and from therapy appointments, nursing units, and designated areas

Ensure residents are properly positioned and secured during transport

Coordinate with nursing and rehab staff regarding therapy schedules and transport needs

Follow all safe patient handling guidelines, including use of gait belts and proper body mechanics

Requirements

Required: Active CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification New York State

Previous experience as a Rehab Aide, Patient Transporter, or CNA preferred

Knowledge of patient transport, mobility assistance, and safety protocols

Strong communication and teamwork skills in a healthcare setting

Energetic, enthusiastic, committed, & passionate about quality care

Genuinely interested in helping ill, injured, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, & sometimes challenging residents

Patience, a cheerful disposition, & willingness to assist any residents & co-workers

Excellent communication, customer service, & organization skills

Trusted to work independently & in a team environment

Able to work well under pressure, flexible, & will work harmoniously with all staff
