Description

At Klickitat Valley Health, we believe healing and wellness extend beyond traditional medical care. We are seeking a compassionate and professional Relaxation Massage Therapist to join our team and provide high-quality therapeutic massage services in a calming, patient-centered environment.

In this role, you will help patients reduce stress, promote relaxation, and support overall wellness through individualized massage treatments tailored to each patient's needs and comfort level. The ideal candidate is attentive, caring, and committed to creating a positive and restorative experience for every patient while collaborating with healthcare professionals to support overall treatment goals.

The primary function of the Relaxation Massage Therapist is to provide the highest-quality massage therapy possible while ensuring the patient has a pleasant experience. The Massage Therapist is responsible for assessing the type of massage treatment that is appropriate for the patient, providing relaxation massage treatments, and providing ongoing treatments that are designed to improve the patient's functional status in conjunction with the overall treatment objectives. The Massage Therapist recognizes that the responsibilities of this job are patient-centered, and, with that in mind, he/she will render the highest quality of care to each patient.

Qualifications

Minimum Education, Training & Experience (includes licenses or certifications):

Education:

  • The level of knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below are normally acquired through the successful completion of an accredited massage therapy certificate program requiring a minimum of 500 hours of instruction plus supervised clinical hours.
  • Certification by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB), and membership with the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) or equivalent association.
  • Requires current CPR certification or arrangements to be certified within the first three months of employment.
  • Current WA Massage Therapist License.

Experience:

  • One-year professional massage experience, preferably in a healthcare facility (e.g., hospital, hospice, sports clinic, or extended care facility).

General Accountabilities and Essential Functions:

  • Performs assessment of the type of massage treatment appropriate for the recipient by:
    • Coordinating massage schedule and setup in advance of massage session(s) to optimize privacy and quiet for the massage environment.
    • Obtaining written parental consent prior to providing massage treatment to a minor.
  • Provides therapeutic and relaxation massage treatments to produce the following outcomes:
    • Reducing muscle tension and pain.
    • Reducing stress, anxiety, and depression.
    • Improving circulation and joint flexibility.
    • Promoting relaxation and a sense of well-being.
    • Reducing sleeplessness, fatigue, or nausea.
  • Performs follow-up to therapeutic massage treatments by:
    • Documenting massage and recommendations as required by department policy and procedures.
    • Obtaining and maintaining a file of consent forms (if required by the department).
  • Maintains knowledge, skill, and competence in areas of responsibility by:
    • Attending in-services and department meetings; also participating in continuing education and attending conferences as approved.
    • Maintaining professional affiliations as appropriate.
    • Reading current professional literature and journals
  • Contributes to the overall effectiveness of the department by:
    • Completing other job-related duties and projects as assigned.
  • Working Conditions:
    • Massages are provided in a quiet space that varies by location/unit.
    • Chair massages are occasionally in public and/or non-quiet areas such as visitor waiting rooms, staff lounges.
    • Miscellaneous supplies such as face cradle covers, massage lotion, and hand sanitizer are provided by KVH.
    • The therapist provides appropriate relaxation music/equipment according to personal preference.
    • Requires the ability to work flexible hours.
    • Requires the physical ability and stamina to perform the essential functions of the position
