Who You Are The Senior Project Manager leads high-visibility, multi-million-dollar building code and zoning initiatives. This fully remote role requires periodic travel to our New York City headquarters for key meetings, project milestones, and on-site inspections. You will oversee the full lifecycle of large alteration and development projects—strategizing with clients, liaising with the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB), and directing cross‑functional teams. You will serve as a trusted advisor to both clients and internal leadership, setting timelines, allocating resources, and mitigating risk on projects with citywide impact.
What You'll Do
Provide executive‑level project management across a diverse portfolio of complex building code and zoning projects.
Coordinate directly with clients, architects, engineers, and the DOB to secure timely approvals and resolve issues.
Review and sign off on plans to ensure strict compliance with NYC building codes and zoning regulations.
Lead research and retrieval of critical records from multiple NYC agencies to support project objectives.
Mentor and guide junior project managers and coordinators, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.
Develop and manage budgets, schedules, and resource plans; report progress to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Travel to the NYC headquarters or project sites at least 10 times per year for key meetings and inspections.
What You Bring
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in building code, zoning, construction management, or a related field.
Required Certification: Active Class 2 DOB Filing Representative ID (Code & Zoning Representative) issued by the New York City Department of Buildings.
Proven record of leading large, complex projects and teams to successful completion.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder‑management skills.
High proficiency with Windows applications, Bluebeam, MS Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, and Word.
Strong organizational and analytical abilities with acute attention to detail.
Management experience strongly preferred; experience mentoring or supervising staff is a plus.
Familiarity with DOBNOW and deep knowledge of NYC building codes and expediting processes.
Potential management of a dedicated project team, including conducting performance reviews, handling disciplinary actions, and overseeing interviewing, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
