Our door-through-door Companion rideshare services and transportation management platform help individuals with mobility and cognitive challenges access healthcare, community resources, and daily essentials. Overview We are seeking a
Product Owner
who excels at execution and detail. In this role, you will partner closely with the Sr. Director of Product—who owns product vision, roadmap, and prioritization—to ensure epics and features are broken down into clear, actionable user stories that engineering can confidently deliver.
You will own day-to-day backlog readiness, story quality, sprint support, and feature validation. You’ll work alongside Engineering and QA to support refinement, sprint planning, testing, and release readiness, serving as a key bridge between strategy and execution.
This role is ideal for someone early-to-mid in their product career who thrives on clarity, organization, user empathy, and collaboration—and wants to build mission-driven software that improves access to care and independence.
What You Will Do Product Execution & Delivery
Break down epics and features into well-defined user stories with clear acceptance criteria and edge cases
Ensure stories are “ready” for development by supporting backlog grooming and refinement sessions
Partner with Engineering Leads to support sprint planning, daily standups, demos, and delivery execution
Continuously refine and reprioritize sprint backlog items based on feedback, learnings, and direction from the Sr. Director of Product
Support QA by validating acceptance criteria, testing features pre-release, and helping confirm readiness for launch
Identify gaps, dependencies, and risks early and proactively communicate them
Quality, Documentation & Enablement
Help ensure features meet functional requirements, usability expectations, and user needs
Assist with documenting release notes and feature changes
Support creation of internal training materials or user-facing documentation for new features
Stakeholder Collaboration
Serve as a day-to-day product point of contact for Engineering during active sprints
Support internal communication around upcoming releases and delivered functionality
Escalate questions, tradeoffs, or scope concerns to the Sr. Director of Product as needed
Customer & Product Insight
Help track product KPIs and performance metrics to evaluate feature impact
Incorporate feedback from customers, internal teams, and support into backlog refinement
What You Will Bring Required:
2–4 years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or early-career Product Manager
Strong experience writing user stories, defining acceptance criteria, and supporting agile/scrum teams
Excellent attention to detail and ability to think through workflows and edge cases
Clear written and verbal communication with both technical and non-technical partners
Comfort working in a fast-paced, startup environment with evolving priorities
Passion for building human-centered, accessible technology for vulnerable populations
Nice to Have:
Experience in healthcare technology, mobility, logistics, or NEMT
Familiarity with healthcare concepts such as FHIR, interoperability, or SDoH
Experience using tools like Jira
Why Join Onward?

Build technology that removes barriers to care and connection
High-Growth Environment:
Learn and grow within a scaling product and engineering organization
Strong Product Partnership:
Work closely with a hands-on Sr. Director of Product
Collaborative Culture:
