Position Overview
The Senior Insights Analyst serves as the lead analytical partner for two strategic retailers, responsible for transforming complex data into clear, actionable insights that drive category growth and strengthen retailer relationships. This role goes beyond reporting to deliver strategic storytelling, proactive identification of opportunities, and elevated category leadership. The Senior Analyst integrates multiple data sources, including Circana (Syndicated and Retailer Portals), NielsenIQ (Retail + Panel), Mintel, and Numerator Promo Intel, to develop holistic views of performance, shopper behavior, and category dynamics. The Senior Analyst is expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, influence sales strategy, and elevate both internal and client-facing analytical capabilities. Key Responsibilities
Advanced Analytics & Insight Leadership
Lead end-to-end analytics across assigned retailers, synthesizing Circana, NielsenIQ (Retail & Panel), retailer POS, Mintel, Numerator Promo Intel, and other data sources into cohesive insights. Translate data into clear “so what” implications and strategic recommendations that drive decisions. Identify category trends, fair share gaps, whitespace opportunities, and competitive dynamics. Integrate shopper insights (panel) with retail performance to inform assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies.
Reporting Excellence & Data Integration
Own and enhance weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reporting (POS, distribution, share, item performance, promotional analysis). Develop scalable reporting tools, dashboards, and templates (Excel and PowerBI where applicable). Ensure data consistency, KPI alignment, and accuracy across all deliverables. Streamline reporting processes to reduce manual effort and improve output quality.
Category Storytelling & Strategic Selling
Develop and deliver compelling category stories and retailer-ready narratives tailored to assigned retailers. Support key sales business moments, including preparing and presenting:
Line reviews Joint Business Planning (JBP) Innovation launches Strategic sales presentations and business reviews Provide fact-based recommendations across the 4Ps (price, promotion, assortment, placement).
Act as a trusted analytical advisor to internal sales teams and external clients. Bring a category-first perspective to retailer conversations and planning sessions. Anticipate business needs and proactively deliver insights that shape strategy. Process Leadership & Team Support
Establish best practices for reporting, insight development, and storytelling. Identify opportunities to better leverage syndicated and retailer data investments. Provide guidance and day-to-day direction to offshore analytical support, including delegating recurring reporting tasks and reviewing outputs for accuracy and consistency. Offer ongoing feedback and coaching to support quality execution and development. Develop and maintain templates, documentation, and workflows to improve efficiency and consistency across deliverables. Drive continuous improvement in analytical rigor, tools, and processes.
Required Experience and Education
5–7+ years of experience in Sales Analytics, Category Management, or CPG insights. Deep expertise in Circana (IRI) and NielsenIQ, including retailer-specific portals (HEB), syndicated retail data, Panel, and Numerator Promo Intel. Proficiency in Mintel a plus. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and PowerBI to design and build analyses from raw data, generate insights, and deliver clear, compelling sales storytelling. Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, NotebookLM) and ability to apply them to improve analytical efficiency and insight generation is a plus Strong analytical and storytelling skills with high attention to detail. Confident presenter with the ability to communicate insights clearly to teams, clients, and retailers. Comfortable supporting retailer-facing conversations, including line reviews and JBPs. Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations. Experience integrating multiple data sources into cohesive analysis. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced sales environment.
