The Civil Litigation Paralegal position is crucial to the efficient operation of our civil litigation department at Bamieh & De Smeth, PLC. The role exists to provide comprehensive case management and support, allowing our legal team to focus on high-level strategies and client interactions. What you’ll do:
Case Management:
Oversee end-to-end management of civil litigation cases, ensuring all elements from filing to closure are handled efficiently.
Discovery Expertise:
Draft, prepare, and summarize discovery documents independently, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements.
Document Preparation:
Prepare pleadings, motions, deposition notices, and subpoenas with precision and attention to detail.
Deadline Management:
Own and track all court-related deadlines and ensure timely filing and service of legal documents.
Technology Utilization:
Utilize Clio and EVE AI tools to enhance drafting and workflow, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
Medical Records & Case Support:
Prepare medical summaries and organize supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness for case development.
Document Service & Filing Coordination:
Manage service of documents and filing workflows, ensuring proper execution and compliance with all filing requirements.
Attorney Coordination:
Ensure attorneys provide timely notes and meet all deadlines, with consistent follow-up after court appearances to maintain case progress.
What we’re looking for:
Civil Litigation Experience:
Minimum of 3 years as a civil litigation paralegal, with a strong focus on discovery and document preparation.
California Court Knowledge:
Preferred experience with California state courts; federal court experience is a plus.
Technological Proficiency:
Comfortable with AI tools and legal software such as Clio; a willingness to learn and adapt is essential.
Attention to Detail:
Capable of handling complex details with precision, ensuring no deadlines are missed.
Teamwork and Independence:
Able to collaborate with legal teams while also working independently to manage caseloads efficiently.
