About This Position As Field CTO, you will be the technical face of our company to the market — bridging the gap between our product capabilities and the strategic needs of our most important customers and prospects. You are a trusted advisor, a compelling storyteller, and a deep technologist who can engage credibly from the boardroom to the engineering floor.
You will partner closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering to position and win strategic deals and provide bi‑directional feedback as the voice of the customer to drive continuous improvement to our product portfolio and roadmap.
What You’ll Do Pre‑Sales & Technical Evangelism
Serve as the senior technical authority in enterprise sales cycles, engaging CTO, CIO, and VP‑level stakeholders at prospect and customer organizations.
Deliver compelling product demonstrations, architecture deep‑dives, and executive briefings that articulate our platform's value and differentiation.
Lead responses to complex technical RFPs, RFIs, and security questionnaires.
Represent the company at industry conferences, webinars, and community events as a thought leader ‑ through talks, panels, and published content.
Build and maintain reference architectures, technical narratives, and demo environments tailored to key verticals and use cases.
Product Strategy & Customer Feedback Loop
Act as the primary conduit between the field and Product/Engineering, synthesizing customer insights, competitive intelligence, and market trends into actionable feedback.
Partner with Product Management to influence the roadmap based on patterns observed across the customer base and prospect conversations.
Participate in beta programs, early access initiatives, and product advisory boards, representing the technical perspective of the field.
Document recurring technical objections, gaps, and emerging use cases to help prioritize engineering investments.
What We’re Looking For Experience
10+ years of experience in software engineering, solutions architecture, or a related technical field.
5+ years in a customer‑facing technical role (e.g., Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Principal SE, or similar).
Proven track record of influencing enterprise deals at the executive level.
Proven track record selling cybersecurity services and solutions to Fortune 500 and larger enterprise companies.
Experience working within or alongside SaaS product companies.
Technical Skills
Deep proficiency in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), modern application architecture, and API‑driven integration patterns.
Experience with Data Protection strategies, with deep expertise and understanding data flows and dependencies across multiple systems, vendors and application tiers.
Deep knowledge of both complex Data Architectures (Structured/unstructured data, and SaaS platforms) and data security (encryption, tokenization, access controls, DLP).
Strong understanding of security, compliance, and data privacy concepts relevant to enterprise buyers.
Ability to evaluate and articulate trade‑offs across architectural approaches.
Soft Skills
Exceptional communication and presentation skills — ability to articulate complex solutions, thoughts and ideas in a clear and compelling way to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Ability to articulate and establish both the business as well as technical value of restoration and resiliency services to create a compelling and motivational environment for customer adoption.
Strong executive presence and the ability to build trust quickly with senior stakeholders.
Highly collaborative, with the ability to influence without authority across Sales, Product, and Engineering.
Comfortable with ambiguity and able to operate independently in a fast‑moving environment.
Nice to Have
Experience as a practicing CTO or VP of Technical Engineering.
Experience building and growing from a startup or scale‑up.
Familiarity with the relevant domain, e.g., data, security, infrastructure, developer tools space.
An established presence in the technical community (open‑source contributions, speaking, writing, etc.).
Experience with analyst relations or technical partnership development.
What Success Looks Like (Year 1)
Meaningfully contributed to closing several strategic enterprise deals through technical leadership in the sales cycle.
Established a repeatable process for capturing and routing customer feedback into the product roadmap.
Become a recognized external voice for the company through published thought leadership pieces, LinkedIn professional social media posts, and participation in hosted webinars.
Established bi‑directional communications and strong working relationships with Product and Engineering as a go‑to and trusted field partner.
