Focus on procurement of finished goods products, with a primary focus on Hand Tools (Hardlines and Screwdrivers), supporting Stanley Black & Decker's vision.
Define, lead, and monitor holistic supplier and category strategies, driving sourcing productivity and delivering year‑over‑year productivity and working capital goals.
Manage direct material spend of up to approximately $50 million and interact with suppliers and colleagues across geographies and cultures.
Establish, maintain, and develop strong relationships with key global suppliers to ensure quality, cost, delivery, and productivity targets are met.
Serve as an escalation point to resolve supplier performance issues and establish regular communication cadence with strategic suppliers.
Initiate and implement Supplier Days (workshops / Kaizen events) and support, organize, and participate in supplier conferences and summits.
Implement strategic supplier management, risk management, diversity, and CSR programs leveraging GSM's Center of Excellence.
Develop and foster global supplier relationships that deliver cost reduction, supply assurance, quality improvement, and innovation.
Define, lead, and monitor global supplier and category strategies for Hardlines and Screwdrivers, considering SBU needs and aligning with GSM priorities.
Implement category strategies to support business vision, margin resiliency initiatives, and maintain correct supplier classification (SIEVO).
Drive reduction in supplier count and bundle purchasing volumes, institutionalize best‑practice processes, policies, and knowledge sharing between GSM and SBU.
Negotiate, implement, and manage supplier contracts and service level agreements, ensuring contract compliance and registration in the group‑wide database.
Monitor markets and trends to proactively renegotiate prices with suppliers and analyze price adjustments.
Lead the supplier selection process through formal RFP, RFQ, and RFI processes, carrying out price comparisons and substitutions as needed.
Accompany new part projects from product development through cost reductions, utilizing modern purchasing tools (eRFQ, eAuctions, Should Costing). Create TCO value through productivity, working capital, synergies, reduced risk, and improved supplier lead times.
Lead and drive program management for core initiatives in Productivity, Working Capital, and Supplier Performance, defining content, goals, and milestones.
Coordinate and monitor milestones, interfaces, dates, and services (internal and external), initiating corrective measures as needed.
Ensure new ways of sourcing are utilized and state‑of‑the‑art reports (e.g., Power BI, Smartsheet) are developed and implemented.
Ensure a high degree of service delivery and SBU satisfaction, partner with SBUs to recognize business value from the GSM team.
Implement suitable control measures and KPIs, support operations in supplier escalations, conduct Make vs. Buy evaluations, and assist in negotiated inventory programs.
Support acquisition integration projects, ensuring compliance with GSM/GSS policies, procedures, and DoA/DOA requirements.
The Person
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or Master’s in Supply Chain preferred.
5‑10 years of experience in Global Procurement / Strategic Sourcing, including supplier selection, management, and contract negotiations.
Minimum 5 years of category strategy or material field strategy experience.
Balance of strategic and operational capacities, including regional sourcing, supplier management, and commodity risk management.
Track record of designing and implementing complex sourcing and procurement strategies that achieved desired results.
Global mindset with experience working in an international/multi‑cultural matrix environment.
Strong listening, coaching, influencing, and communication skills; ability to influence without direct authority.
Excellent negotiation skills and knowledge of procurement techniques, supplier integration, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong financial and analytical skills; experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Ability to conceive and execute strategic program initiatives.
Proven track record of YOY productivity projects and complex sourcing strategies.
Proficiency in MS Office, Power BI, and Smartsheet.
Strong project and program management and problem‑solving skills.
Self‑motivated with ability to drive change in a global organization with minimal supervision.
Multi‑lingual capability is a plus.
Certifications (preferred): CPIM or CSCMP, PMP, Six Sigma or Lean/Kaizen.
Willing to travel domestically and internationally 10–20% of the time.
The Details
Competitive salary range: $77,600.00 – $124,900.00 (annual full‑time).
