We are seeking a
Senior Preconstruction Manager
to lead the preconstruction process for a defined portfolio within our Building Automation Solutions (BAS) practice. This role serves as the bridge between sales and project delivery, managing the bid and early engagement process while ensuring a seamless transition to operations. You will act as the primary point of contact for customers during the pre-award phase, driving proposal development, identifying risks, and establishing strong project plans that position teams for successful execution.
General Job Duties
Lead all aspects of preconstruction and bid processes to ensure strong commercial outcomes and risk mitigation
Manage and achieve portfolio sales and profit targets
Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, EPCs, and trade partners
Analyze project requirements, define scope, and develop pricing and commercial strategies
Collaborate with leadership to develop portfolio and pursuit strategies
Lead proposal development, including scope narratives, technical solutions, and pricing
Coordinate with estimating, solution architects, and delivery teams to align project plans
Track opportunities and pipeline within CRM tools to support forecasting and staffing
Lead bid reviews, client presentations, and contract negotiations
Ensure seamless project handoff to operations with clear documentation of scope, risks, and budgets
Participate in industry events, workshops, and client engagements
Travel up to 35%
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Needed Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field
10+ years of experience in preconstruction, project management, or estimating within industrial or building automation
Proven ability to lead complex bid processes and win client-facing proposals
Strong financial acumen, including pricing strategy and margin management
Excellent communication, presentation, and client relationship skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, CRM systems, and estimating tools
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Preferred:
Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), PLC-based controls, or mission-critical infrastructure
Familiarity with SCADA, HMI, and related platforms
Experience leveraging AI or automation tools in estimating or proposal development
The target annual base compensation for this position is $120,000–$150,000, based upon relevant qualifications. Featured Benefits
