Job Description:
Key Responsibilities Lead and manage QA activities across multiple projects within child welfare or human services systems Define and implement QA strategy, standards, and best practices Perform and oversee manual testing (functional, regression, system, UAT support) Design, develop, and maintain test automation frameworks and scripts Review requirements, design documents, and user stories to ensure testability Coordinate with developers, business analysts, product owners, and stakeholders Mentor and guide QA team members; conduct reviews and performance feedback Manage defect tracking, reporting, and root cause analysis Ensure compliance with state, federal, and regulatory standards (including documentation and audit readiness) Provide QA metrics, status reports, and risk assessments to leadership Support release management and production validation activities Required Qualifications
7+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance (Manual + Automation) Prior experience in Child Welfare, Human Services, or Government/Public Sector projects Strong hands-on experience with manual testing methodologies Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, UFT, or similar) Proficiency in test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, ALM, Azure DevOps) Experience leading or managing QA teams Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile, and Waterfall methodologies Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to work onsite or hybrid in the Sacramento, CA area Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with state or county child welfare systems (e.g., SACWIS / CCWIS) Knowledge of data validation, ETL testing, and backend testing Familiarity with accessibility testing (Section 508 / WCAG) Experience with CI/CD integration for automated tests Prior experience in QA governance or audit-heavy environments
