As a
District Sales Manager , you lead district sales efforts in alignment with corporate guidelines. The primary focus is expanding the client base through targeted, approved sales and marketing programs. You provide strategic leadership to drive district growth and achieve objectives.

Manage
6-8 sales reps
(field coaching
3-4 days a week ).
Remote/field-based role
- no physical office; work from home and on the road.
High autonomy
in running your team.
Report to Zone Manager/Director
Sr. Director
General Manager/VP/Exec Director (organic growth opportunities; many promotions into higher leadership).
Company has ~1,000 sales reps overall, with ~50% sales turnover (35% company-wide).
Emphasis on
coaching/development , pipeline management, and driving quota attainment.
Roles are
CPA-centric
- build strategic, consultative relationships with CPAs (referral network is key; not pure farming, but high volume of CPAs).
Reps focus on prospecting and territory building.
Turnover with CPAs hurts relationships, so stability matters.
Prefer leaders
who have led in the field before, especially from new business teams.
Driving coaching from a quota perspective is essential.
Responsibilities
Manage achievement of corporate objectives by individual product lines within the district, staying within budgeted financial guidelines.
Recruit, select, and direct sales staff to meet or exceed corporate goals; monitor attainment vs. forecast and take corrective action as needed.
Identify potential management candidates and escalate to Zone Manager.
Manage line-by-line items of corporate-assigned budgets.
Project a positive image representing the corporation to clients and the community.
Cultivate and develop a referral network among certified public accountants (CPAs), enrolled agents, and bookkeepers through the sales staff.
Collaborate with branch managers on mutual objectives and problem-solving using partnership principles.
Ensure accuracy of weekly activity reports; audit commission and expense reports.
Initiate, participate in, and supervise ongoing training for sales reps in technical knowledge, competitive knowledge, and sales skills.

focus: ~ 2 deals per week
per rep (deal size varies; all considered).
Pipeline management differs for long-term sales (vs. high-transactional like 2-3K/deal, 90 deals/day in some industries).
Strong emphasis on
performance management , hiring, promotions from team, and keeping top performers engaged.
Interview questions may probe: # of people managed, field time frequency, team quota attainment %, past promotions/hires, performance management experience.
Qualifications & Preferences
Required :
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Marketing.
3+ years of experience in Sales or Marketing.
