● Customers only connect their bank accounts
● Admins gain centralized visibility into customer identity and balances
● Background systems keep financial data fresh and reliable without manual intervention
This is a one-month build focused on correctness, security, and extensibility; not UI polish.
What We're Building
This project consists of three clearly defined surfaces:
Customer, Admin, and System (Automation).
1. Customer Experience (Minimal & Secure)
Customers will have one responsibility only:
● Securely connect their bank accounts via Plaid Link
● Re-authenticate when required
● No access to balances, identity data, or admin insights
The customer interface should be intentionally simple to reduce risk and complexity.
2. Admin Intelligence Module
Admins will have a centralized operational view of all customers and their connected accounts.
Admin Capabilities Include:
● View a list of all customers
● Inspect customer identity details retrieved via Plaid (KYC-supportive view)
● View balances across all connected accounts
● See connection status and last refresh timestamps
3. Role-Based Admin Management
The system must support role-based access control (RBAC) with at least:
● Super Admin
Full access, including admin management and system settings
● Admin
Access to customer data and balances, but no role management
● Read-Only Admin
View-only access for audit and reporting purposes
Role enforcement must be backend-driven and auditable.
4. Automated Balance Refresh System
To avoid stale financial data, the platform must include:
● A background job queue that:
○ Periodically refreshes customer balances via Plaid
○ Handles API limits and retry logic gracefully
● Admin-configurable refresh frequency via system settings
● Logging and status tracking for background jobs
This system should run autonomously once configured.
Technical Expectations
● Backend-first mindset / Python preferred)
● Strong experience with Plaid APIs:
○ Bank Connections
○ Identity
○ Balance endpoints
● Database-driven architecture (PostgreSQL / MongoDB)
● Background job processing (queues, schedulers, workers)
● Secure token handling and secrets management
Security & Compliance Awareness
While this is a POC, the system must reflect real-world fintech practices:
● GDPR-conscious data storage
● Secure handling of Plaid access tokens
● Principle of least privilege for admin roles
● Audit-friendly logs for admin actions and background jobs
Deliverables
● Working Plaid integration for customer bank connections
● Fully functional Admin module with RBAC
● Automated background balance refresh system
● Clean, documented codebase with extension notes
Timeline & Budget
● Duration: One month
● Budget: TBD (open to fixed-price or hourly proposals)
